Collaborative Community and Campus Partnerships

A core principle of PEHKA’s relationships with client groups is sharing goals, objectives, and decision-making roles. Our work with community groups, schools, colleges and universities, and other partners emphasizes the importance of community based participatory research (CBPR) in guiding strategies for action.

Our collaborations focus on:

  • Partnering on grants and projects to provide expertise needed by the community or educational associate.
  • Designing research methods appropriate for project evaluation.
  • Creating supportive learning environments to provide education and skills for specific groups.
  • Adapting educational and organizing models to specific contexts and community needs.
  • Supporting community groups for capacity building.

In Summer 2019 PEHKA partnered with Rutgers Center for Green Building and the Elizabeth Housing Authority Bayway Summer Enrichment Program to introduce campers to indoor air quality issues and makerspace IAQ kit building
