Programs are designed to educate community members for empowerment in areas of immigrant concerns, civil rights advocacy, environmental justice challenges and learning environment design

Community-based learning centers for immigrants and other low-income communities can provide mentoring and “training the trainer” strategies through online or in-person classroom training

PEHKA can assist in visioning, design of facilities, classrooms, and online learning environments, and creating healthy and sustainable schools to support learner-centered education

Evidence-based design and practice, post-occupancy evaluations, and other context-specific activities are used to assess the quality and needs of the learning environment and to move to process implementation
Activities of PEHKA include:

Workshops to demonstrate the important relationships between classroom design and learning activities

Partnering to educate immigrant families on environmental health issues and tenants’ rights

Mentoring ethnic and underrepresented students to excel in higher education
