Sustainable, Healthy Interior Environments (SHIE)

PEHKA provides community education and consultation on indoor environments and sustainable design. Our priorities are to address building related illness such as asthma and to create socially responsible and sustainable places.

• We provide information to tenant groups, administrative personnel, and building owners on steps to creating healthy indoor environments
• Partnerships promote sustainable building design initiatives that emphasize human well-being, product effectiveness, and economic responsibility
• Research is conducted on building site history to identify potential connections with hazardous former uses
• Curriculum guidelines are provided for sustainable design education
